Rebirth

"Create in me a clean heart, O God. Renew a loyal spirit within me."
Psalm 51:10
(Taken from "Whispers Of Wisdom For Busy Women")
Donna sighed as she watched the Times Square ball drop on TV. It had been a rough year. She was in a slump emotionally, spiritually and physically. Exhaustion was her constant companion. Peace seemed far away and God even farther.
"Heavenly Father", she prayed, "Help me find You again." As she changed for bed, a still, small voice filled her head, as real as if someone spoke aloud. Renavatio. What was that? Vague memories of high school Latin assignments flickered through her m ind. Renevatio. What did it mean?
Donna found the definition- "rebirth; discarding the old and embracing the new"-just as words of a song came to her:
New life stirs within me now
Like a soft breeze, transforming me now
It's a miracle of love
Precious blessing from above
My heart has taken wings...like a dove
And suddenly she knew: God had been right there all along. The Giver of Life was also the Renewer of hope, and He was ready and waiting to fill her with new life, new hope-to transform her heart and lift her out of her pit. All she had to do was ask.
Breath of Life, breathe into me Your sweet joy and peace. Help me see the coming year as an oppurtunity to discard the old, embrace the new, and fly on the wings of a dove,
Amen.
Happy Monday everyone!
